An Evening in Central Park

Originally uploaded by crazypete04.

After days of wishful thinking, the heat finally broke and tonight felt almost like a nice summer day in San Francisco. I ventured out to Central Park for the annual Met in the Parks series which brings the Metropolitan Opera to various parks around New York City.

Turns out that most of the people that go (and there were A LOT of people) weren't really there to watch Saint-Saens' "Samson et Delila". Instead, it's more like a huge picnic that just happens to have some of the world's premier opera performers providing the dinner music. Then again, good music, good food, good weather, and good company - can't really complain. A few days like this sprinkled through the other eighty-something days of brutal heat and humidity almost makes New York summers bearable.
